Vikings Will See a Different Jordan Love
Things were different when the Minnesota Vikings played the Green Bay Packers at the end of September. Minnesota had yet to lose, and Green Bay was just .500. After a Week 1 game in Brazil, Jordan Love came into the contest at much less than 100%. He’s still probably dealing with the effects of his early knee injury, but Brian Flores needs to play for a different player this time.
Vikings Will See a Different Jordan Love
Despite Love’s not being at his best, Packers head coach Matt LaFleur was forced to rely heavily on him. The Vikings jumped out to a 28-0 lead and took a 28-7 lead into the half. Regardless of how little the Green Bay coach may have wanted to expose his quarterback, he had zero ability to distance himself from him.
When the dust settled, Love threw the ball a whopping 54 times. He put up 389 yards and four touchdowns. The bad news is that he turned the ball over three times. Although his legs weren’t going to save him that day, he took just one sack and preserved them as much as he could.
Love hasn’t shown much wear on his knee or body lately, and it has translated on the field. Over the last five weeks, the Packers signal-caller has completed 65% of his passes while posting a ridiculous 8/0 TD/INT ratio. It should be noted that those contests have come against bottom feeders, and he was at his worst in a loss against Detroit.
Still, Minnesota is going to see a different kind of animal this time around. The Packers paid big money to extend their rookie this offseason. He hasn’t flashed like an MVP-level talent, but he’s certainly good enough to win in this league. Playing against Minnesota on the road, he’ll need to replicate the performance he posted at U.S. Bank Stadium a year ago.
Minnesota has a better team than Green Bay. They have a better offense and defense, and Sam Darnold can stake a claim as the better quarterback. That said, it’s not going to be as easy this time around, and Love will ensure to make it every bit as difficult as he can.
If the Vikings want to set up a gargantuan matchup in Week 18, they’ll need to get the job done against their top rival this weekend.
