The Vikings WRs May Be Understated

It’s obvious and straightforward to call Justin Jefferson the best wide receiver in football. For whatever reason, it took Madden some time to figure that out. Bengals fans may argue that Ja’Marr Chase has a claim to the crown. They are wrong. It’s unequivocally a fact that Jefferson is the top talent in the league.

That said, Jordan Addison would be a top wide receiver on many other teams throughout the league. The second-year talent has quickly emerged as a reliable target for whatever quarterback is throwing him the ball. It’s probably a bit lost just how incredible the duo is, however.

The talent possessed by a receiver room remains a constant talking point. There are often debates about which tandem is the best in the league. It would be hard to legitimately stack anyone up against what Sam Darnold has at his disposal.

Working against the Seattle Seahawks last weekend, the Minnesota Vikings quarterback found the pairing early and often. Jefferson scored a pair of touchdowns, while Addison found paydirt as well. The top talent recorded 10 receptions for 144 yards on 13 targets. Addison hauled in five of eight targets for 35 yards. His receptions were all impactful from a conversion standpoint.

On a weekly basis, it’s virtually impossible for the opposition to gameplan against Minnesota. Jefferson is the focal point, but putting safety help on him leaves Addison plenty of room to operate. The youngster from USC has shown an ability to torch the defense and operate in space independently.

Throughout the season, both Jefferson and Addison have played off one another. One has popped off while the other has acted as a decoy. They have both produced together. They have both scored in the same games. There really has not been a time in which the opposition has been effectively able to take either one away.

Kevin O’Connell is an offensive-minded coach who likes to put up points. His ability to do so is only enhanced by having the best wide receiver room in the league. At this point, anyone who throws the Vikings wide receivers the football is in line for a pretty good day. If they can be competent at it, then the unit will only contribute more.
