The Minnesota Vikings will put their undefeated season on the line this Sunday versus the Detroit Lions, a home matchup in Week 6 to determine the NFC North’s frontrunner.

However, according to a fringe site called The Wright Way Network (or TWSN), Minnesota’s season will be “ruined” in six days. Alex of TWSN titled an article The Detroit Lions Will Ruin the Minnesota Vikings Season and revealed the bold take.

“This is the Vikings next game, and it’s a big one. If the Vikings are seriously going to challenge the Lions to win the NFC North, this is the game to prove that,” he opined. “The Vikings were swept by the Lions in the final three weeks of the regular season in 2023. This is a big shot at revenge for them, and it could send a big message in the NFC North race. I lean the Lions in this game to end the Vikings run at perfection, but it would not shock me if the Vikings win.”

Minnesota has lost thrice consecutively to Detroit after decades of utter Vikings dominance.

“Verdict: Week 7 vs. Detroit Lions: I think the Vikings will fall short to the Lions in Week 7. The Vikings will still be a factor this season, but I don’t think they’re at the Lions level yet this season,” TWSN concluded.

“Not on Lions’ level” is a bold declaration, especially after Minnesota has toppled four teams in the NFL’s Top 12 of Super Bowl contendership — in a row, in fact. Since a Week 1 triumph over the New York Giants, the Vikings have defeated the San Francisco 49ers by six, the Houston Texans by 27, the Green Bay Packers by two, and the New York Jets by six. All teams currently live inside the Top 12 per Super Bowl odds.

Minnesota’s defense ranks first in the NFL per DVOA and EPA/Play at the moment. That’s the enterprise’s calling card in the first five games, and all eyes will turn to this week’s purple injury report. Minnesota is scheduled to have tight end T.J. Hockenson back in the lineup against Detroit or Los Angeles for Thursday Night Football four days later versus the Rams.

Running back Aaron Jones is also hobbled, nursing a hip injury he suffered in London. His availability will be crucial in forecasting Minnesota’s chances of winning.

The NFC North is suddenly ultra-competitive. For the first time since division realignment in 2002, four teams within the same division have at least four wins after Week 6.

Not for nothing, even if the Lions prevail, the Vikings’ season won’t be “ruined.” One loss doesn’t end a campaign at this point on the calendar.
