3 Potential Head Coaching Locations for Brian Flores in 2025

For the past year-plus, Brian Flores has done a masterful job of turning around the defense for the Minnesota Vikings as defensive coordinator.

However, Flores has indicated that his ultimate goal is to get back into the head coaching game in the future. With his success in Minnesota, there is a chance that he could get eyeballs on his resume this upcoming spring.

Assuming Flores is a head coaching candidate in 2025, here are three teams that could hire him as their next head man.

Las Vegas Raiders

Brian Flores as a Las Vegas Raider just kind of makes sense. Flores’ mentality of throwing caution to the wind with his intricate blitzes would fit right in in Las Vegas, and he would be able to work with star players like Maxx Crosby and Trevon Moehrig.

Of course, Antonio Pierce remains the head coach of the Raiders for now, a job he acquired after going 5-4 as an interim in 2023. However, Las Vegas has not replicated that success with a record of 2-8 this season, and the Raiders have allowed 28.5 points per game, fourth-worst in the NFL.

If Pierce were to be on the way out, Flores could be an option.

New York Jets

The New York Jets are already looking toward the future at head coach after firing Robert Salah earlier this season, and they fired GM Joe Douglas this week after another loss. Once again, it has been nothing but disappointment for the Jets in 2024 with a 3-8 record.

In fact, some have gone so far as to say it wouldn’t be surprising if Aaron Rodgers did not return to New York in 2025.

If the Jets were to undergo a complete teardown, Flores could be an excellent fit alongside the star-studded talent on the defensive side of the ball.

Cincinnati Bengals

Few teams can claim to be as disappointing in 2024 as the Cincinnati Bengals. On offense, Joe Burrow leads the NFL in passing yards and touchdowns while Ja’Marr Chase also leads the league in receptions and receiving yards.

However, it has all been for naught because of the ineptitude on the defensive side of the ball.

For the Raiders and Jets, an argument against Flores being hired is that those teams may need to opt for an offensive-minded head coach to develop a new QB. However, Burrow is a complete QB at this point and simply needs an offensive coordinator to play to his strengths.

What Cincinnati really needs, particularly to compete in the AFC North, is a coach to completely revamp the defensive side of the ball. If Zac Taylor is on the hot seat, Flores can do exactly that.
