That’s Aaron Jones, who joined the Minnesota Vikings roster in March after seven seasons in Green Bay, six with Rodgers.

Aaron Jones, Jonathan Greenard, Jordan Addison and Cam Bynum spoke with reporters after mandatory minicamp on Wednesday, June 5th, 2024, at TCO Performance Center. MIN signed Jones during the 2024 free agency period, a replacement for Alexander Mattison, who joined the Las Vegas Raiders roster.

Now, the two will be foes this Sunday in London as the Vikings host a “home game” across the pond. And to prepare for that showdown, Rodgers wasn’t shy about showering love on Jones.

“Aaron Jones. Jonesy is one of my all-time favorite teammates. There’s nobody like Jonesy. He is a special, special human. One of the best guys to be in the locker room with, one of the best guys to have next to you in the shotgun. Smart as can be, tough, physical, slasher, great hands. Just always a positive attitude,” Rodgers told The Pat McAfee Show on Tuesday.

Jones has played four games for the Vikings this season and totally revitalized the offense. Without Jones in 2022 and 2023, head coach Kevin O’Connell’s first two campaigns, Minnesota’s ground game struggled profusely.

Rodgers added, “I mean, Aaron Jones is, I’d say this about a few guys, I’d say this about [John] Kuhn, he epitomized what I thought it meant to be a Packer. Community, phenomenal teammate. He had a lot of pride in his performance, a lot of pride in wearing those colors. He’s going to be a Packer Hall of Famer when he’s done playing.”

Rodgers and the New York Jets enter Week 5 as underdogs against the Vikings, expected to lose by two or three points. Rodgers and Jones have never played against each other.

“There might have been some thought that he didn’t have a whole lot left in the tank, and I think we’ve seen through four weeks, that’s incorrect,” Rodgers concluded.

In back-to-back weeks, Jones will have experienced a “this is your life” tour. His Vikings chipped off the Packers at Lambeau Field by two points last Sunday. He even did his version of a Lambeau Leap into the stands after the game ended. And this weekend, Jones will face the quarterback who’s handed him the rock more than any player in his career.

Jones said after the Vikings’ victory in Wisconsin: “I’m like, ‘You guys are worried about me Lambeau Leaping? You guys should be worried about the score. I came here and got what I wanted and I did get my Lambeau Leap in, so I got a two-for-one. Just didn’t score, but I still got the Lambeau Leap.”

It’s also worth noting that Sunday will likely be the last time the Vikings ever play against Rodgers, who will turn 41 in December.
