It was always a matter of when, not if, the Minnesota Vikings would sign Justin Jefferson to a contract extension. On Monday, the when was unveiled. As the massive payday was reported, reactions across the NFL landscape were nearly unanimous in praising the superstar wideout.

Reactions to Justin Jefferson Contract Extension Are Wild

Justin Jefferson enters a season where the Minnesota Vikings heavily rely upon his production. Kirk Cousins is gone, and the combination of Sam Darnold and J.J. McCarthy will only be as successful as the playmakers around them. Thankfully for the signal callers, Minnesota has elite talent at multiple offensive positions, making the job of a quarterback much easier.

Although he’ll miss some time to start the year, tight end T.J. Hockenson quickly shared his excitement for Jefferson. Calling the contract deserved is putting it bluntly, and as Hockenson has excelled at his position, he has had a front-row seat to see Jefferson put on a show on the outside as well.

Previously the highest-paid wide receiver in the NFL, Tyreek Hill is one of the few wideouts who can match Jefferson’s production. He has won it all with Kansas City and continues to put up video game numbers with the Miami Dolphins. Rather than comment on his own need for a contract revision, which he may, he congratulated the Vikings wideout as well.

Teammate Josh Mettellus is something of the playmaker for Brian Flores on defense. Being utilized in multiple positions and scenarios, he knows a thing or two about big production in key spots. Always active on X (formerly known as Twitter), Mettellus immediately shared his thoughts.

While the Vikings certainly believe in his abilities after paying him on such a lucrative extension, they also clearly believe he is unlike anyone else at the position. It’s hard to suggest any bias there, and the production also warrants that level of belief. Appropriately calling Jefferson one of none is a good way to put a bow on it.
