Q: Would you trade Lewis Cine for a 6th-Rounder today if offered?

bleacher report
Matt Krohn-USA TODAY Sports.

Answer: No.

The Vikings defeated the Cleveland Browns in Saturday’s preseason game, 27-12, and Cine experienced a lot of playing time. Along the way, he produced the game of his NFL life, tallying an interception, sack, a rim-rattling quarterback hit, and 11 total tackles.

Before the preseason heroics, Cine lived on Minnesota’s roster bubble, with most fans preparing for his waiver next week when roster trimdowns occur on August 27th. However, following the stellar performance, most Vikings fans and analysts have turned to roster projections and carved out a spot for Cine, hoping his preseason reclamation can continue into the regular season. Stay tuned.

Trading him now would feel brutal — directly after the one game he busted out. Can you imagine him turning into a Pro Bowler in Dallas or Philadelphia, for example? Oofta.

Keep him, and see what he’s got in 2024. That’s our recommendation.

Q: Do you expect Jordan Addison and T.J. Hockenson to be ready for Week 1?

Hockenson Will End
Brad Rempel-USA TODAY Sports

Answer: Addison, yes. Hockenson, no.

The injury to Addison wasn’t ideal or fun, but he should be ready by the game at the New York Giants or soon after.

Hockenson, however, is likely trending toward the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list. That would sideline him for six games. That’s what we’re preparing for, anyway. The moment Hockenson fell injured in late December, he’d never realistically be back by the start of the regular season. A bummer, indeed.

Q: Is undrafted free agent Dwight McGlothern gonna make the regular season roster?

Trevor Ruszkowski-USA TODAY Sports.

A: Yes. We think so.

It’s not quite a lock, but McGlothern is in a commanding position to make the active roster. He’d almost certainly get swiped from the practice squad if he ended up there.

Plus, there are no gangbuster cornerbacks after Stephon Gilmore and Byron Murphy on the Vikings’ depth chart. Plenty of corners are hoping for a roster spot, but none really have a stranglehold.

We believe McGlothern has to make the regular season roster and will be disappointed otherwise. If not, where’s the youth movement at the position? It’d be nada.
