Also, please note: These are opinion-based responses. Some answers will be incorrect from time to time. But we’ll try to keep that to a minimum.

Q: What do you consider the Vikings’ most underrated roster move of the last 7 or 8 months?

OLB A. Van Ginkel makes it official and becomes a Minnesota on March 15th, 2024, in Eagan, Minnesota. Van Ginkel spent the 2019-2022 seasons with the Miami Dolphins and joined Minnesota via free agency in 2024. He grew up cheering for the Vikings.

Answer: Signing Andrew Van Ginkel for $10 million per season.

Van Ginkel received ample playing time in 2023 when nearly every EDGE defender for the Dolphins was lost to injury. He had 6 sacks and 20 pressures, according to Stathead, along with a blistering 91.1 PFF grade.

He’s a transfer from the Flores days in Miami — a welcome one.

With Van Ginkel on the roster, Minnesota has depth at outside linebacker, arguably its most in a decade. If something happens to Jonathan Greenard or Dallas Turner, Van Ginkel sponsors a starter’s production. The Vikings didn’t necessarily have that in D.J. Wonnum all the time from 2020 to 2023.

Ten million bucks for a starting EDGE with Van Ginkel’s talent is a steal.

Q: Any chance the Vikings keep six wide receivers? These roster cuts are difficult.

Scott Galvin-USA TODAY Sports.

Answer: It’s absolutely a possibility.

In fact, Minnesota initially kept six wideouts last year before cutting Jalen Reagor after roster cutdown day. If they keep six, the room would [likely] look like this:

  • Justin Jefferson
  • Jordan Addison
  • Jalen Nailor
  • Brandon Powell
  • Trishton Jackson
  • Trent Sherfield

It’s also worth noting that T.J. Hockenson probably won’t be ready for Week 1, meaning the Vikings may want an additional pass-catcher during his absence.

We’d say it’s about 60% that Kevin O’Connell and Co. keep six WRs.

Q: Who will win the QB3 gig? Jaren Hall or Matt Corral?

Jeffrey Becker-USA TODAY Sports

A: Jaren Hall.

We’ll see a lot of Matt Corral on Saturday at the Philadelphia Eagles in the preseason, but he was probably signed as a summer body to fill preseason snaps.

O’Connell has a vested interest in Hall’s development — he drafted him or was at least in the room when it happened. Yes, this is a Hamilton reference.

Hall over Corral is our prediction.
