Also, please note: These are opinion-based responses. Some answers will be incorrect from time to time. But we’ll try to keep that to a minimum.
Q: Do you think the Vikings will do any more trades before the deadline?
Answer: Yes. If they beat the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday night, we think they’ll go get a player like Adam Thielen from the Carolina Panthers or Greg Newsome II of the Cleveland Browns.
However, if Minnesota loses its third straight, we predict it will sell a player like EDGE Patrick Jones II or linebacker Brian Asamoah.
Minnesota has already acquired Cam Akers, a running back from the Houston Texans, and Cam Robinson — the Cams — from the Jacksonville Jaguars. That might be it. There’s also a chance that general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah swings a “T.J. Hockenson-style deal” for an impact player — via mid-round pick swaps.
A win on Sunday? Another incoming trade. A loss? Jones II or Asamoah find the exit sign.
Q: What was your favorite part of the Cam Robinson trade?
Answer: We have three.
- Minnesota will only pay $2 million of Robinson’s salary — NFL pennies.
- The Vikings’ brass still believes the team can contend in 2024; Robinson helps keep the playoff window alive.
- Minnesota will likely receive a compensatory pick if Robinson bolts in free agency, possibly negating the 4th- or 5th-Rounder shipped to the Jaguars.
Everything about the deal ended up pretty low cost and low risk. We’ll take it.
Q: Will Bo Richter ever play? He’s awesome.
Answer: Yes, but not anytime soon.
Richter had his name called to the active roster recently, so that’s a bonus for pro-Richter fans. But onlookers should be more excited about Dallas Turner’s emergence. He, foremost, will soon grab more playing time.
Of course, Richter could see action if injuries arise, but that would be bad news for the enterprise. It would have meant that Andrew Van Ginkel or Jonathan Greenard hit the shelf. No, thank you.
