After a late scare, the Minnesota Vikings completed an overtime victory over the Chicago Bears to move to 9-2 on the season. Here are some player reactions to the Vikings’ win in Chicago.

Player Reactions to the Vikings’ Win in Chicago

It was all going far too smoothly for a Vikings/Bears game, with Minnesota up by 11 points with seconds left on the clock. A touchdown, 2-point conversion, recovered onside kick, and field goal took us to overtime, and when the Bears won the toss, Vikings fans could be forgiven if they feared the worst.

Minnesota Vikings placekicker John Parker Romo (96) reacts to his good field goal against the Tennessee Titans during the second quarter at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tenn., Sunday, Nov. 17, 2024.

The Vikings’ defense made the stop, and Vikings QB Sam Darnold superbly engineered a game-winning drive that ended with a field goal.

What The Players Said

What better place to start than the man who sealed the win? When rookie kicker Will Reichard and Pro Bowl long snapper Andrew DePaola got injured, the concern was that what had been a solid kicking unit might crumble. Other than one missed extra point, John Parker Romo has been solid, and he kept his nerve with the game on the line in the Windy City.

Jonathan Greenard expressed the feeling of the entire fanbase. You can argue whether it should have been easier, but divisional games on the road are tough, and the Vikings came out on top.

Josh Metellus reminded everyone to “trust the process” as the Vikings made it nine wins out of eleven.

Sam Darnold is having fun during his best stretch of games in his NFL career but focuses on praising his teammates and wanting the team to grow and improve.

Big Day for the Other Vikings Playmakers

It was a career day for Jordan Addison, who admitted that his former college teammate Caleb Williams had him feeling nervous at the end. Addison had career highs in receptions (8) and yards (162) as well as a touchdown. We have been waiting for a game where Addison explodes, and we got it on Sunday. He reacted in his usual understated manner.

T.J. Hockenson also had a 100-yard game, praising Justin Jefferson’s effect on helping others. Jefferson might have had a quiet day on the stat sheet, but his impact on the game shouldn’t be understated.

Aaron Jones’s day started well, with a couple of big rushes on the opening drive, but then disaster struck. A fumble at the goal line halted the Vikings’ early momentum.

Jones thanked Kevin O’Connell for sticking with him, and Jones repaid him with 106 rushing yards and his third rushing touchdown of the season.

Former Players

It’s always fun to see how former Vikings react to what their team is doing. Former Vikings RB Robert Smith admitted checked out early and missed the chaotic end.

Former LB Chad Greenway humorously stated that the game went just as planned.

We finish with former Vikings LB Ben Leber singalong out Sam Darnold for praise.

After the horror show in Jacksonville, Darnold has bounced back with two solid performances without any interceptions. The Vikings now have a stretch of three straight home games where they can look to seal a wildcard playoff place as a minimum.
