Vikings’ Super Bowl Odds for NEXT Year Already Blah

Regarding Super Bowl odds — not this Super Bowl but next — the Minnesota Vikings are in a familiar spot.

Vikings’ Super Bowl Odds for NEXT Year Already Blah

Sportsbooks are already peering ahead at Super Bowl LIX, and for the Vikings, it’s the middle of the pack. Minnesota opens up at No. 16 per Super Bowl odds in 2024, sandwiched between the Jacksonville Jaguars and Cleveland Browns. Ironically, Minnesota has the same odds as its rival, the Chicago Bears, with a +4,000 moneyline.

Of course, Super Bowl odds in January before the upcoming championship has even occurred are a little dumb, but Vegas never sleeps. The San Francisco 49ers are favored to win both Super Bowls — the one in 11 days and the next 376 days from now — with a +450 probability. The Carolina Panthers, on the other hand, round out the very bottom of the Super Bowl probability math for 2024 at +25,000.

The Vikings’ real Super Bowl odds will become clearer in the next 12 weeks. The team’s leadership must decide to re-sign quarterback Kirk Cousins for a year or two or let him walk to open free agency. Then, with or without Cousins, Minnesota must weigh selecting a quarterback of the future in April’s draft. If the purple team opts not to extend Cousins and then chooses a quarterback early in the draft, the Super Bowl odds would likely plummet even further. Teams with rookie quarterbacks rarely make serious playoff pushes.

In the NFC North, the Detroit Lions lead the way per Super Bowl odds at +1,200. Detroit melted down last weekend in the NFC title game after holding a 24-7 lead in the 3rd Quarter over the aforementioned 49ers. San Francisco stormed back to win 34-31, and the Lions authored the biggest collapse in the history of the NFC Championship.

Still, Vegas is high on Detroit next season.

The Packers, Minnesota’s foremost rival, have +2,500 odds, or 11th-best around the NFL. The latter part of the 2023 regular season, plus the postseason, proved that quarterback Jordan Love might be the real deal. Indeed, Green Bay may have done it — finding back-to-back-to-back productive quarterbacks since 1992.
