Our Official Staff Prediction for Vikings at Eagles

The VikingsTerritory collective staff prediction for Vikings at Eagles is ready.

Minnesota lost out of the gate at home to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 20-17, an embarrassing event as the Vikings turned the ball over thrice and forced no takeaways.

Our Official Staff Prediction for Vikings at Eagles

The Eagles, on the other hand, survived a late advance on the road at the New England Patriots, winning 25-20 and staying inside expert’s Top 3 power-ranking projections.

The writers at VikingsTerritory predict the Vikings will lose their second game of the season.

The group mostly picked the Eagles to prevail, evidently not confident that the Vikings can rebound on the road. Perhaps memories of last year’s loss in Philadelphia were too loud.

Here’s how the panel sees the score for Week 2:

Dustin Baker: Eagles Win, 24-17
Sean Borman: Eagles Win, 27-18
Janik Eckardt: Vikings Win, 27-24
Josh Frey: Eagles Win, 24-13
Will Goodwin: Eagles Win, 27-20
Wes Johnson: Eagles Win, 31-23
Kyle Joudry: Vikings Win, 31-30
Adam New: Eagles Win, 30-9
Nathan Porter: Eagles Win, 34-20
Nate Powalie: Eagles Win, 31-16
Ted Schwerzler: Eagles Win, 28-17
Ali Siddiqui: Eagles Win, 30-17
Cole Smith: Eagles Win, 23-13

Mathematically en masse, we predict the Eagles will top the Vikings by a score of 28-19.

Last week, Sean Borman most accurately predicted the outcome of Vikings-Buccaneers, choosing Minnesota to “only” win by three points. The Vikings lost by three points.

The Vikings are currently seven-point underdogs at the Eagles in Week 2. Minnesota has split the last four matchups with the Eagles, losing in the 2017 NFC Championship and in 2022 while winning two in between.

Sporting News picked the Eagles to defeat the Vikings, too, and SN‘s Vinnie Iyer explained, “Kirk Cousins and the Vikings did this in Week 2 of last season in Philadelphia and it was a 24-7 domination as the Eagles were well on their way to rolling to the NFC championship. Cousins’ prime-time woes are well known and he played messy in the opener. So did the Eagles with Jalen Hurts, but they are better positioned to correct things offensively with their talent vs. a much weaker defense than their own.”

The Vikings have not yet lost back-to-back games with Kevin O’Connell as head coach.
