The Vikings New — and Huge — Depth Chart

The Minnesota Vikings have added seven newcomer free agents in March and April, including Josh Oliver (TE, Ravens), Marcus Davenport (EDGE, Saints), Byron Murphy (CB, Cardinals), Dean Lowry (DT, Packers), Brandon Powell (WR, Rams), Troy Reeder (LB, Chargers), and Joejuan Williams (CB, Patriots). Six men arrived from the 2023 NFL Draft, plus another 15 undrafted free agents.

Cameron Dantzler (CB, Commanders), Eric Kendricks (LB, Chargers), Patrick Peterson (CB, Steelers), Adam Thielen (WR, Panthers), Dalvin Tomlinson (DT, Browns), Duke Shelley (CB, Raiders), Irv Smith (TE, Bengals), and Kris Boyd (CB, Cardinals) left the team.

Minnesota has about four months until the regular season, so the roster will shrink substantially by the end of August. That’s the way it goes for summer team-building.

Minnesota is projected with a familiar win forecast this season as of early April — 8.5 wins. It’s the identical Vegas forecast from last year at this time. Most experts believe the franchise wildly overachieved in 2022 and will regress accordingly in Kevin O’Connell’s second year. We shall see.
