The Minnesota Vikings lost to the Denver Broncos on Sunday night, a one-point defeat sullied by turnovers and lack of execution late in the 4th Quarter.

Quarterback Joshua Dobbs encountered his first loss as a Viking, tabulating a couple of touchdowns and turnovers along the way.

Dobbs’ parents made the trip to Empower Field at Mile High to watch their aeronautical son play primetime football, and Sunday Night Football cameras heavily showcased the two.

Naturally, there were memes.

Stephanie and Robert Dobbs were often even-keeled when the cameras panned for their reactions, and some pounced for a bit of humor.

Here’s one example:

Totally unflappable, some joked about Dobbs’ parents’ demeanor, and Dobbs, the son, noticed. He told reporters on Wednesday, “Some of the reactions from my dad, they look kind of mundane. Like a big play happened, and they’re just like sitting there no celebrations, a straight face. So, we’re working on their excitement level. Yeah, it’s a work in progress.”

Since joining the Vikings on October 31st, Dobbs ranks as the NFL’s ninth-best quarterback per EPA+CPOE.

“I sent them the film, they looked at it, they’re figuring it all out. My mom gets really cold, so she spent a lot of time inside somewhere, watching the game in Denver. So, my dad just looked like he came to the game by himself to watch the game on Sunday Night Football. They were aware they were going to get some TV time,” Dobbs continued.

The Vikings host the Chicago Bears this week on Monday Night Football and are expected to win by three or four points, according to oddsmakers.

Dobbs concluded about his parents’ presence at games, “They did say we’ll put you on TV probably pregame, and during the game, we’ll keep it on football. And after like every touchdown, they kept turning it to my parents. But they had fun with it. They get a lot of texts from their friends and stuff, and they feel really good they’re getting shoutouts on TV.”

At the University of Tennessee, Dobbs obtained a degree in aerospace engineering, and in 2020 and 2021, he interned at NASA — hence the meme above. In fact, NASA nicknamed Dobbs “The Passtronaut” a couple of weeks ago.

Dobbs even shared the meme(s) involving his parents on his Instagram.
