What Highlight Is Next for Justin Jefferson?
By this time, it’s not just Minnesota Vikings fans that are aware Justin Jefferson is the best wide receiver in the NFL. EA Sports Madden 24 has dubbed him as such, and nationwide spectators are more than aware. The highlights continue to come, though, and what he adds to the showcase this year remains to be seen.
What Highlight Is Next for Justin Jefferson?
Last year Justin Jefferson was on a collision course with former Detroit Lions superstar Calvin Johnson’s single-season receiving yardage record. Unfortunately, he came up just short as the final few games ended in a whimper, but there were plenty of jaw-dropping plays along the way.
None of Jefferson’s catchers were more impressive or potentially necessary than when he one-upped Stefon Diggs during the Buffalo Bills game. Getting vertical and making a one-handed grab on what seemed an impossible reception, Jefferson looked like a superhuman. Now with training camp kicking off for the 2023 season, he’s at it again.
We already have another showstopper during just the first week of training camp. Jefferson ran an out route and got just the slightest bit open for quarterback Kirk Cousins. The Netflix actor put the ball in a position where only he could catch it, and that’s exactly what Jefferson did.
As we continue to see highlights from Vikings training camp, you can expect plenty of them to include Jefferson. The hope is that he would continue to produce them every week throughout the season and also that some of that talent could permeate toward teammate Jordan Addison.
Now armed with a second young wideout, Kirk Cousins must be salivating at the opportunity to truly open up the passing game. T.J. Hockenson is with Minnesota for a full season in 2023, and Adam Thielen has moved on to Carolina. Those moves together give head coach Kevin O’Connell renewed opportunity to move the ball through the air.
Although Dalvin Cook won’t be coming out of the backfield, as he was also a pass-catching option, Addison’s emergence could prove substantial as the season goes on. Jefferson is said to be an incredible teammate, and it’s hard to have a better person to study than the best wide receiver in the game.
It’s not a matter of if we will see another Justin Jefferson highlight that’s worth adding to the already impressive reel, but when. How many he can line up and if he can bring along Addison for the ride will be key.
For now, we’ve got training camp excitement and the jaw-dropping plays he makes coming out of it — to drop collective jaws at.
