Gotta Hear It: Vikings Quote of the Day — February 26, 2022
Each day, we select a quote about the Minnesota Vikings, uplifting the sentiment of the day or highlighting something notable.
The remark can come from a Vikings player, coach, writer, fan — or anybody, really. Selection of the quote is arbitrary. The excerpt may be insightful, humorous, groundbreaking, outlandish, or foolish. If you have a quote of the day (your own or from someone else), please send it to [email protected].

So, again, it’s not a groundbreaking quote, but it does generate excitement from a Vikings fanbase devoid of such enthusiasm for a while.
Kwesi Adofo-Mensah and Kevin O’Connell represent a new age of Vikings football, contrasting gravely from the Rick Spielman and Mike Zimmer era. Spielman and Zimmer were successful together — Minnesota was the league’s 10th-best franchise from 2014 to 2021 under Zimmer per wins and losses — but the experiment grew stale.
The two men were fired on January 10th, pivoting the franchise to a period of youthful change. And the photo of Adofo-Mensah and O’Connell taking in a Minnesota Timberwolves game is part of the appeal. Young guys doing young-guy things.
Adofo-Mensah and O’Connell must prepare for free agency, which begins in about two weeks. The Vikings need a total overhaul on defense while finding a way to navigate a skinny cap situation. Minnesota is about $15 million underwater for cap space.
