Vikings Territory Breakdown: Kirk Signs and (Some) Vikings Fans Sigh
The free agency tampering period is here (which is one the silliest things going—just open up free agency on Monday and let ‘er rip). But then the NFL has never been one for drawing a line and sticking to it (e.g. there will be no gambling in the NFL!) unless, of course, it has to do with giving Colin Kaepernick a job. But that’s another quarterback story for another day.
The QB news of note on this day are Kirk Cousins is extended, Tom Brady comes out of retirement and Mitch Trubisky is following in the footstep Big Ben Roethlisberger. The quarterbacks are making moves (even if one is moving backwards and another is staying in place) and the rest of the free agency news will follow from there.
So many questions surround the Kirk Cousins Conundrum: why the extension? why was there no trade? What do we make of the Deshaun Watson rumors? What position does this put the Vikings in cap-wise? Do they have room to improve the O-line? Do they have money to get a defense? Did they just kick the can down the road or did Zigi and Mark Wilf say no rebuild on my watch? Is this a safe bet, the only real option or a big gamble on the part of Kwesi and KOC in their first season in power at TCO Performance Center?
