Vikings Territory Breakdown: Hunter and his crazy offseason training program

As we approach the Memorial Holiday weekend, the Vikings have been hard at work at TCO Performance Center. The Purple PR staff has trotted out players to meet the media each week and news by drips and drabs (like cheese melting off the side of your burgers on the grill) has begun to appear. And we here at VikingsTerritory.com are here for it.

Recently, Danielle Hunter met the media and informed them that his pectoral injury from last season was not as serious as may be imagined and he could have played had the Vikings made the playoffs. Imagine what could have possibly have been had that happened. We most likely would not be exactly where we are today. Then again, maybe not.

Mark Craig from the Star Tribune was on hand at TCO to hear what Hunter had to say and learned of his excitement to play alongside his friend Za’Darius Smith this season for the Purple. Smith, who has in recent days brought up echoes of the Purple People Eater days with this defensive front in Minnesota, is anticipating facing his former team in the opening game of the season—and Viking Nation is right there with him.

Mark Craig and Joe Oberle from the Vikings Territory Breakdown podcast are on hand to break it down for you. In addition, they take a loot at linebacker Eric Kendricks role in the new Vikings regime. Kendricks had a big role in Mike Zimmer’s defense and his leadership role in this new defense only seems to be on the rise. Craig will talk about that. Head coach Kevin O’Connell brought a big screen TV to the practice field at TCO (something they did out in Los Angeles) and coach Mike Pettine is spearheading a diversity coaching summit to help minorities get in on the ground level jobs that lead to the coordinator and head coaching jobs. The VT Breakdown boys will try to tackle that as well. So tune in and check it all out.
