You can cross the Kyler Murray + Patrick Peterson war of words off your bingo board — because that’s happening in 2022.

The two men were teammates in Arizona for two seasons, 2019 and 2020, and appeared to be pals during the stint. Fast forward to 2022, and the men are engaged in a social media beef that fell out of the sky.

Chatting with Bryant McFadden on the All Things Covered podcast, McFadden and Peterson sized up the current situation in Arizona as the franchise fell on harsh times with a lousy 4-8 record, teetering on elimination from the postseason. McFadden suggested head coach Kliff Kingsbury would be canned soon, Peterson agreed, and McFadden then explained his wish for Murray to keep his discontentment quiet regarding team matters.

Peterson, who knows Murray, chimed in, “Kyler Murray don’t care about nobody but Kyler Murray. That’s just a matter of fact.”

Murray is known for moodiness, and those types of criticism amplify when a team hits 12 weeks of an NFL season with a 4-8 record — finger-pointing. Here’s the video from McFadden and Peterson.

Well, Murray defiantly and emphatically wasn’t having any smoke blown in his direction and swiftly chided Peterson — for admonishing his personality:

So, either Murray indeed has some degree of problem with egoism — or Peterson is totally making up the narrative for unknown reasons. One month ago, another future Hall of Famer cornerback, Richard Sherman, also chastised Murray for his video-game affinity and did so in front of a national audience:

The Vikings defeated Murray’s Cardinals in Week 8 at U.S. Bank Stadium 34-24. After the win, Peterson relished the triumph over his former team while blasting Cardinals GM Steve Keim.

The beef with the Cardinals evidently runs deep — and has now evolved between Peterson and Murray.

The Vikings play the Cardinals again at U.S. Bank Stadium in 2024.
