Two Minnesota Vikings rivals, the teams that most recently ousted the purple team from the NFC Championship, are getting slight uniform-related makeovers.

The New Orleans Saints and Philadelphia Eagles announced the changes on Thursday, as the Saints tweaked their helmets for an alternate version and the Eagles rebranded their alternate logo.

New Orleans will wear a totally different color-schemed helmet for at least one game in 2022, shifting from the traditional gold base to a black look.

It is unclear which game will feature the black helmets for New Orleans.

The fresh look is a part of a new era for the Saints, as long-time head coach Sean Payton resigned this offseason. Defensive coordinator Dennis Allen took over, and the Saints will march into 2022 with Jameis Winston as the presumed QB1. Last year, Winston sprinted to a decent start but was derailed by a season-ending injury. If something happens to Winston in 2022, veteran Andy Dalton will take over as New Orleans signed the ex-Cincinnati Bengals for QB2 duty.

According to oddsmakers, the Saints are bedfellows with the Vikings for a wins forecast. Both teams are slated to win around eight or nine games.

For the Eagles, well, they fundamentally changed their alternate logo. The customary eagle wings will remain on their helmets, but the alternate logo features a font the franchise considers “more modern.”

The standalone eagle is still the team’s primary logo, but the “modern font” is the first change to the alternate logo since 1996.

Following the steam of a playoff appearance with first-year head coach Nick Sirianni in 2021, Philadelphia will fully determine in 2022 if Jalen Hurts is the quarterback of the future. In his first two seasons, Hurts looked the part at times but didn’t quite deliver like men such as Justin Herbert or Joe Burrow — and every general manager and fan wants a top-tier passer like that. So, the 2022 campaign will decide if Philadelphia sticks with Hurts or continues a quest to find “the next Mahomes.”

The Vikings play both teams in 2022 — and early in the season. Minnesota and Philadelphia square off on Monday Night Football in Week 2 at Lincoln Financial Field. The Vikings then travel to London as the road team for a date with Saints in Week 4.

In the last five seasons, the Vikings are 5-3 (.625) against the Saints and Eagles.
