Q: Kyle Rudolph is unemployed. Will he return to the VIkings?
A: No, probably not.
You have to check the way you used to think about the Vikings at the door. This is a new era, outfitted with new leadership. Mike Zimmer’s “guys” won’t be Kevin O’Connell’s “guys.” We will see a whole new flock of people’s “guys.”
Conversely, the Vikings do need a TE2 as Tyler Conklin will command decent money on the open free agent market that Minnesota cannot afford. In that regard, a Rudolph signing is possible.
If Zimmer and Spielman were still in charge, a Rudolph reunion would be quasi-probable. But for now, it’s a longshot. The team needs new blood.
Q: Is it true Kirk Cousins is the second-likeliest player to quarterback the Browns next season?
A; Why, yes.
There are connections by Cousins to Cleveland all over the place. Kwesi Adofo-Mensah spent time with Browns, so he knows Cleveland’s general manager. Kevin Stefanski squeezed Cousins’ best season out of the quarterback in 2019.
It’s important to note the Browns will likely stick with Baker Mayfield. Yet, if they soured on him this offseason, Cousins-to-Cleveland makes all the sense in the world.
Although, we do not believe Cousins will be traded.
Q: How busy will the Vikings be in free agency?
A: This one is a total guess – medium busy.
The Vikings don’t have any money right now – they must cut roster fat, extend some veteran contracts, and get tricky with void-year maneuvers – so they shouldn’t be big movers-and-shakers. They can’t be – they have no money.
Nevertheless, the Vikings are always in this spooky spot during March, and the purple brass figures out ways to find cash – every time.
The Vikings will unearth cash and sign some impact players, notably cornerbacks.
