Gotta Hear It: Vikings Quote of the Day — March 2, 2022

Each day, we select a quote about the Minnesota Vikings, uplifting the sentiment of the day or highlighting something notable.

The remark can come from a Vikings player, coach, writer, fan — or anybody, really. Selection of the quote is arbitrary. The excerpt may be insightful, humorous, groundbreaking, outlandish, or foolish. If you have a quote of the day (your own or from someone else), please send it to [email protected].

We’ve seen four different teams move on from him since 2019, but the talented wide receiver is going to generate interest in NFL free agency this offseason. It all leads to the question, who will sign Antonio Brown?” uploaddate=”2022-03-01″ thumbnailurl=”https://cdn.brid.tv/live/partners/17660/snapshot/964655_s_1646151430371.png” contentUrl=”https://cdn.brid.tv/live/partners/17660/streaming/964655/964655.m3u8″]

This quote is from March 1st, 2022, by Vikings general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah, speaking on his desire for EDGE rusher Danielle Hunter to return with Minnesota in 2022:

“He’s somebody we want to work with going forward.”

– Kwesi Adofo-Mensah | Minnesota Vikings

And here’s the tweet from SI.com’s Will Ragatz:

For intense followers of the Vikings, Adofo-Mensah’s revelation is gigantic. He wants Hunter back. That is a big deal for the trajectory of the 2022 season.

Before Tuesday, it was unclear if Hunter would be a point of emphasis for extension – or tradebait. Hunter has missed almost 80% of all Vikings games amid the last two seasons, but when he’s on the field, Hunter is tyrannical.

During some of the offseason, fans envisioned life without Hunter, meaning the team would have no startable EDGE rushers entering free agency.

But Adofo-Mensah’s commitment to Hunter – at least in spirit – signals Minnesota’s defense won’t start the offseason behind the eight-ball. Now, Adofo-Mensah, if he works toward a deal with Hunter, can focus on the acquisition of linebackers, cornerbacks, and perhaps one more EDGE rusher, as free agency and the NFL draft are afoot.

Adofo-Mensah’s musings today at the combine are a big deal. Unless he lied to the cameras, Hunter should be back with the Vikings for the 2022 season.
