In February 2021, Triplett was diagnosed with brain cancer. On Monday, his teammate Chad Greenway appealed to fans for financial help for the former Viking and Gopher.

Greenway detailed Triplett’s situation:

“Unfortunately, although the tumor is responding, Nate is still unable to return to work. As you can imagine, the medical bills, treatments and medical care for Nate are adding up. This is when we need to rally around Nate, Jessica, and the girls and do what we can to support them when they need it most. We need them to focus on Nate’s fight and caring for their girls; let’s be part of their team and alleviate some of their stress.”

– Chad Greenway

Triplett was drafted in 2010 by the Vikings in the 5th Round about three months after the infamous NFC Championship loss down in New Orleans. He didn’t make it to the regular season with Minnesota that season, instead signing with the Colts and playing some regular season games with Indianapolis in 2010 and 2011.

He’s a Minnesotan through and through, born in Maple Plain and graduating from Delano High School.

As of Tuesday morning, over $17,000 had been raised for Triplett on GoFundMe.
