The Minnesota Vikings and Detroit Lions are set to face off Sunday at U.S. Bank Stadium. Both teams are currently 1-1. Minnesota is coming off a rough 24-7 loss Monday night against the Philadelphia Eagles on the road, while Detroit beat the Washington Commanders 36-27.

Minnesota leads the all-time series 79-40-2, and up until week 13 last season at Detroit, they had won eight straight against them.

Minnesota should win this game, but it could be tougher than most of their recent matchups against them. So far, Detroit has been decent. Granted, both were home games, but they have looked better than most may have expected.

This is a home game, though, and look for Minnesota to play a very good game after their disappointing performance on Monday. It could be a very close game, too. It will be very interesting to find out. Any given Sunday.

The last time these two teams met in Minnesota, the Vikings won 19-17 on a last-second 55-yard field goal by Greg Joseph.

“So happy for all the guys in locker room. The team deserved that win, and so happy I was able to deliver,” Joseph said.

Kirk Cousins went 25/34 for 275 yards, a touchdown, and an interception. Alexander Mattison rushed for 113 yards on 25 carries, with 7 receptions for 40 yards and a touchdown. Justin Jefferson caught 7 passes for 124 yards.

On defense, Everson Griffen recorded two of the team’s four sacks. Eric Kendricks recorded eight tackles and an interception.

“I’m proud of our guys the way they fought. Not particularly proud of the way we played, though,” said Mike Zimmer, who watched the Vikings (2-3) lose a 10-point lead with less than three minutes left.

For Detroit, Jared Goff went 21/35 for 203 yards and an interception. D’Andre Swift rushed for 51 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries to go along with six receptions for 53 yards. Armon-Ra St. Brown caught seven passes for 65 yards.

On defense, Tracy Walker III tied for a game-high with nine tackles (Harrison Smith recorded that many for the Vikings).

Zimmer shoving Cousins after the game after the quarterback tried to celebrate the win was actually one of the biggest talkers of that game.

While it is only week three, you never want to start 1-2. Division losses are tough, as well. If the Green Bay Packers also lose to the Tampa Buccaneers this week, they would fall to 1-2. Both the Vikings and Packers could be neck in neck all season for the NFC North, so every game is critical, especially ones in the division, for tie-breaker purposes.
