Sansevere: Williams deserves Ring of Honor, sure, but so many more do too [Exclusive]

By Joe Johnson

No issue with Kevin Williams going into the Vikings’ Ring of Honor. No issue at all.

He was a helluva defensive tackle and deserves that kind of recognition.
But what about the others who keep getting overlooked or passed over or whatever the hell you want to call it?
Back from the Purple Eater days, guard Ed White belongs. Chuck Foreman said he weeped the day White was traded to the Chargers because White meant so much to the Vikings’ offensive line.
Anthony Carter belongs.
Keith Millard belongs.
Tommy Kramer, Gary Zimmerman, Gary Larsen from back in the day. They belong, too. And there are others as well.
Nowhere is it written that only one former player, coach or executive can go into the Ring of Honor at the same time.
The Pro Football Hall of Fame inducts multiple players every year. The Vikings can do it, too, with their Ring of Honor.
Actually, they did it in 2017 when they inducted both Randy Moss and Ahmad Rashad.
The Vikings, as they have done many times on the field, need to play catch up. They need to get more guys in their Ring of Honor.

  • Agreed. Grady Alderman (six Pro Bowls, one first-team All-Pro) should be up there, too, along with those mentioned by Sansevere. And Steve Hutchinson.
