That didn’t last long.

Adrian Peterson is on the move, released by the Tennessee Titans right before Thanksgiving – and now landing with Seattle Seahawks, albeit on the practice squad.

The addition to Seattle’s roster is the latest stop in Peterson’s post-Vikings adventure, totaling seven teams since the Oklahoma alumnus entered the NFL in 2007.

Peterson ranks fifth in rushing yards on the NFL’s all-time leaderboard, trailing Hall of Famer Barry Sanders by 368 yards for fourth place. It is unclear if Peterson will receive the necessary touches in Seattle to threaten Sanders’ mark.

The Titans signed Peterson when Derrick Henry was injured in November, perhaps as a solution to keep the rushing attack afloat. But in three games, Peterson was afforded 31 touches for 90 yards from scrimmage and one touchdown. His 2.9 yards-per-touch is not what Tennessee’s front office had in mind when they brought the veteran aboard.

The Seahawks are sans the services of RB1 Chris Carson, who underwent season-ending neck surgery two weeks ago. Back in the NFC, Peterson will have to compete for carries with running backs like Alex Collins, Rashaad Penny, Deejay Dallas, and Travis Homer.

For perspective, 67% of Peterson’s career occurred with the Vikings. He departed after the 2016 season, latching onto various NFC teams since. Then, he tried the AFC on for size, but the experiment was short-lived.

Interestingly, Peterson’s father was dismayed Minnesota didn’t pick up the phone to inquire about the tailback’s services. In Week 12, the Vikings lost Dalvin Cook to injury, and his timetable to return remains a mystery. The Vikings will showcase Alexander Mattison and rookie Kene Nwangwu in the interim.

Nevertheless, Nelson Peterson believes general manager Rick Spielman should’ve reached out:

The Vikings chose to remain youthful at running back. Both Mattison and Nwangwu are 23 years old. Peterson is 36.

Peterson joins a Seahawks team in total disarray. Russell Wilson is experiencing the first losing season of his career with Seattle posting a 3-8 record through 11 games. Intense speculation suggests Wilson will request a trade early in 2022.

Per FiveThirtyEight.com, the Seahawks have a 1% chance to reach the playoffs.
