Vikings sign WR Bralon Addison to futures deal

By Sean Borman

H/T to our friends at DailyNorseman which is where I first saw this news.

After acquiring former Canadian Football League cornerback Marcus Sayles in early January, the Vikings turned their attention to another CFL All-Star. The team signed wide receiver Bralon Addison to a futures deal on Thursday.

Addison (5-9, 197) was predominately a quarterback in high school. A four-star recruit out of Missouri City, Texas, Addison chose to play college football at Oregon where he made the switch to wide receiver. He never broke the 1,000-yard receiving barrier, but he had productive sophomore and junior seasons, hauling in 60+ passes for over 800 yards each season. He was also a potent punt returner, taking three punts back for touchdowns in his three-year college career. Addison went pro after catching 10 TD passes his junior year.

He caught on with Denver as an undrafted free agent in 2016. After being waived by the Broncos during final roster cuts he signed with Chicago and joined their practice squad. Addison ultimately appeared in the season finale against the Vikings at US Bank Stadium, catching one pass for 11 yards in his only NFL game.

Addison’s CFL career began in 2018. Following a quiet regular season he caught fire in the playoffs after replacing an injured Terrell Sinkfield at wide receiver. Addison then went on to enjoy a breakout season with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in 2019, catching 95 passes for 1,236 yards and 7 touchdowns. He also ran the ball 36 times for 218 yards and a touchdown. For his efforts he was named a CFL All-Star.

The shifty speedster, now 26, has earned himself another opportunity in the NFL. Best of luck to the Vikings’ newest receiver, Bralon Addison.

The Vikings have now signed ten players to reserve/futures contracts.
