The Vikings play the Saints on Sunday in the first round of the playoffs. But with all the rampant speculation surrounding the future of head coach Mike Zimmer, the team’s ownership released the following statement on Friday.

Per Courtney Cronin of ESPN:

We value Mike and Rick’s leadership and we have every intent of Mike continuing as the head coach of the Minnesota Vikings and Rick leading our football operations, next year and beyond.”

The statement, which was released by team president Mark Wilf, seems to ensure that the Vikings will retain their head coach and general manager for at least one more season, and perhaps beyond. Both Zimmer and Rick Spielman have one year remaining on their contracts (through 2020).

There have been rumors swirling that suggest the Dallas Cowboys would like to trade for Zimmer once the Vikings’ postseason run concludes. Zimmer was defensive coordinator for the Cowboys from 2000-2006.

Zimmer was hired by the Vikings in 2014. In five seasons he’s led the team to a 58-40-1 record, including the playoffs. Spielman has been part of the organization since 2006.
