Report: WR coach Drew Petzing leaving Vikings

By Sean Borman

The Vikings remain without an offensive coordinator for the time being, and it sounds as if they’re losing another coach from their 2019 staff. On Wednesday, word came down that the team will not be retaining one of their offensive positional coaches.

According to Ben Goessling of the Star Tribune, Drew Petzing will be leaving the team. As a result, the Vikings will have a new wide receivers coach in 2020.

Petzing joined the Vikings’ staff in 2014 as a coaching assistant. He became assistant wide receivers coach the following season, a post he held for three years. In 2018 he became assistant quarterbacks coach under then-QB coach Kevin Stefanski. He was then promoted to wide receivers coach in 2019.

Quite the reversal of news here as it was previously reported that Petzing had signed a new deal with the Vikings.
