Eric Kendricks ruled out minutes before kickoff due to freak calf injury

Maybe the mayor from ‘Foot Loose’ was on to something.

Minnesota Vikings defensive MVP Eric Kendricks was on the field stretching out minutes before kickoff Sunday at home against the Jacksonville Jaguars when perhaps he heard a song that caught his ear. I I could be wrong, but it appeared that Kendricks started to dance and during that dance he apparently hurt his calf muscle, an injury he nursed all week in practice (although it is worth saying that he came into today’s game with no injury designation).

Kendricks is replaced by Todd Davis at middle linebacker. Kendricks seemed to be missed instantly as the Jags marched down the field and scored on a freak tipped “sure-thing” interception touchdown pass, and then marched down to the Vikings red-zone courtesy of 6/6 passing from veteran back up Mike Wobs… Mike Glennon.

Make that 6/7, as the Vikings bent but didn’t break to force a field goal attempt by the Jags. The Jags lead 9-0 with just over 6 minutes left in the first quarter.
