The Borman Breakdown: Wobby no longer with Vikings, Cameron Smith signed, another hit by Sendejo

By Sean Borman

WOBBY

In a bit of a stunner, Mike “Wobby” Wobschall of the Vikings Entertainment Network is no longer working for the Minnesota Vikings organization. Wobschall, also a regular guest of Paul Allen’s “9 to Noon” program on KFAN-FM 100.3, had not been seen working his regularly scheduled programming.

According to Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic, Vikings spokesman Jeff Anderson released the following statement earlier today:

“Mike Wobschall is no longer an employee of the Minnesota Vikings. We wish him the best in his future endeavors. We do not believe it is appropriate to further comment on internal personnel matters.”

It remains to be seen why Wobby is no longer a part of the team. According to a report by the Star Tribune neither party is elaborating on his sudden departure.

Regardless of what his future folds, I would personally like to thank Mr. Wobschall for not only being a great content producer for the VEN over the last 14-plus years, but also being instrumental in helping me jumpstart my writing career. Thanks Wobby, best wishes to you.

TRANSACTIONS

  • In other news, linebacker Cameron Smith was signed to fill out the Vikings’ 10-man practice squad on Tuesday. Smith was waived on Saturday following the activation of cornerback Holton Hill (suspension) to the 53-man roster.

  • Also on Tuesday, the Philadelphia Eagles released former Vikings safety Andrew Sendejo. By releasing Sendejo, the Eagles will recoup a projected 4th-round compensatory draft pick while the Vikings lose a projected 7th-rounder.

2020 DRAFT PICKS

  • Due to Sendejo’s release, the Vikings are now projected to have ten picks in the 2020 NFL Draft (Rounds 1, 2, 3, 3*, 4, 6, 7, 7, 7*, 7*) with * indicating projected compensatory picks.

  • 1} I totally agree on Wobby ~
2} I'm glad Smith made it back to PS ~
3} Dang the Eagles for releasing Sendejo’s and costing us a late rd. pick ~

  • Could be that Wobby was one--a total dork and two--a total homer. But, probably not.

  • Wobby did a great job sorry to see him go. I hope it was his idea and he gets an even better job.
