Jayron Kearse Arrested for DUI, Unregistered Firearm

The Vikings defensive backfield gained one troubled player back from multiple suspensions and apparently lost another over the weekend, with corner Holton Hill being eligible to return to game action next Sunday and as widely reported, defensive Swiss Army knife Jayron Kearse being arrested around 4 a.m. Sunday morning for DUI and for possessing an unregistered firearm.

According to multiple outlets, the arresting trooper witnessed Kearse’s Mercedes drive around a barricade on I-94 and Cedar avenue. After witnessing what the trooper said was signs of intoxication while speaking to Kearse (who had two other individuals in the car with him), he reportedly blew a .10 and was booked into Hennepin County Jail (where he remains as he is being held without bail). Upon the search of Kearse’s Mercedes the Trooper also found an unregistered handgun.

The team released a statement regarding his arrest, saying, “We are aware of Jayron’s arrest and are gathering additional information at this time.”

It’s safe to say that Kearse will face a hefty suspension for conduct detrimental to the team/NFL, from both/either the team and NFL. However, the 2016 7th-round pick has improved each year with the team and has been able to show value at multiple positions, which for a team with limited cap and roster space has endeared Kearse to the team and its fans. So, for a team that’s making a push for a deep playoff run and that has limited depth at corner, especially, this one is rough but not catastrophic. If we’re looking at it that way, which (while gross) is our gig here at purpleTERRITORY Media.

While we’re used to this sort of thing in Minnesota and as sports fans, it still shows that these guys are human and that humans do stupid things. Sigh.
