The Vikings claimed former Atlanta Falcons fullback Luke McNitt off of waivers Tuesday. McNitt, who played college football at Nebraska, was signed by Atlanta as an undrafted free agent in May. The Nebraska native is 6-foot-2, 250 pounds. He was waived by the Falcons on Monday.

McNitt, 24, was added to the roster as running backs Roc Thomas and Mack Brown continue to nurse injuries. Neither have practiced this week. At fullback, the Vikings now boast C.J. HamKobe McCrary and McNitt.

So far this week, the Vikings have added:

  • FB Kobe McCrary
  • OL Kareem Are
  • Jacob Judd
  • FB Luke McNitt

With 89 of 90 roster spots filled, the Vikings have one more vacancy. It remains to be seen how close center Pat Elflein is to returning from the physically unable to perform list, but it may be Elflein that fills the final opening.

UPDATE:

It appears we now have the answer as to who will fill the last roster spot.
