The “Effin’ A” Q & A with Vikings RB Roc Thomas

By Sean Borman

8/13: Roc Thomas. The “Effin’ A” Q&A is a unique training camp article featured only on VT. Players are interviewed after practice and asked a couple quick questions that Vikings fans want to know. Their typical response to being tracked down is how the name of this article was born.

How’s training camp going so far?

“It’s going great man. Just trying to improve every day on the little things and just go day-by-day.”

What are the positives you can away from your performance Saturday night?

“There’s a lot of positives. We performed very, very well as an offense. The defense performed very well. We showed that when we got down in the fourth quarter, late in the game, [we can] still turn the game around. I mean it was just a great, great, great, great experience for all of us rookie guys and the new guys coming in. The older guys kinda showed us the way to set the tempo so that whole entire game was just great all around.”

Who are some of the mentors you have on the team?

“All the ‘old guys’ in the running back room. They’re on us every day, just trying to get us better at the small things and correct things that we wouldn’t correct on our own. Just being leaders for us, man, that’s all it is.”

What are your thoughts on the RB3 competition at this point?

“I’m not even really worried about it. Honestly, I’m just trying to get better and improve on certain things that I need to improve on. Worrying about that competition… that’s not where my mind needs to be at. As long as I’m worried about improving, everything will play out.”

Thomas had a phenomenal Vikings debut on Saturday night. The “Roc” ran 8 times for 29 yards (3.6 YPC) and caught 3 passes for 102 yards with 2 touchdowns.

The 22 year-old has taken an early lead in the RB3 competition, but there’s still a long ways to go before that decision is ultimately made.

  • I really hope this young man can keep his foot on the gas ~ I'm really liking what I have seen ~

    • There's a lot to like about Thomas. Funny how one preseason game changed the whole RB3 situation. It was his coming out party. We'll see if he has similar success this weekend against the Jaguars.
