According to Albert Breer of SI.com, there have been rumors circling that Kevin Stefanski could join Pat Shurmur as a member of the New York Giants coaching staff. Stefanski, the Vikings QB coach, has been with the Vikings since 2006. Breer wrote:

It’s no surprise that Vikings QBs coach Kevin Stefanski will interview for the offensive coordinator job in Minnesota. Seen as a rising star on the staff—he was moved from running backs to quarterbacks this fall—there were rumblings he’d go with Pat Shurmur to New York, and at least giving him the chance to compete for Shurmur’s old job should work to keep him happy.

The “rumblings” were confirmed by Jordan Raanan of ESPN, who reported that Stefanski could be targeted by Shurmur to become the offensive coordinator of the Giants depending on how things play out in Minnesota. Shurmur is reportedly looking to hire an offensive coordinator that has worked with quarterbacks.

Stefanski will meet with Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer this weekend at his ranch in Kentucky to discuss the Vikings open offensive coordinator position. Zimmer will also meet with Darrell Bevell.

The list of candidates for the Vikings offensive coordinator vacancy has begun to narrow. Mike McCoy, who was reportedly an early candidate, was named the Arizona Cardinals OC on Thursday.

Jason La Canfora of CBSSports.com reported the Vikings are expected to make a decision on a new offensive coordinator by early next week.
