The Minnesota Vikings placed second-year center Pat Elflein on the PUP list Wednesday. Elflein is recovering from a broken ankle that he suffered late last season. The 2017 third-round pick is also dealing with shoulder issues.

Head coach Mike Zimmer said Elflein is “getting better every day” and expects that his return from the physically unable to perform list “shouldn’t be too long.” Elflein, who did not take part in spring drills, will not be allowed to practice until he’s removed from the PUP list.

With most veterans not practicing until Saturday, the Vikings on Tuesday signed undrafted rookie J.P. Quinn to man the center position.
