Danny Isidora Takes Over for Injured Tom Compton, Xavier Rhodes & Anthony Barr Hurt
The Minnesota Vikings came away with a 37-17 win over the New York Jets on Sunday. They took over first place in the NFC North with their fourth victory of the season. While the result is exactly what the team had in mind as it left for New Jersey, the team could come back home minus a couple of key starters.
Left guard Tom Compton left Sunday’s game with an apparent right leg injury in the first half. Compton, who replaced starter Nick Easton in training camp after a season-ending neck operation, did not return to the game.

In a bit of a surprise move, rather than being replaced by guard/center Brett Jones, who started the first three games of the season at center for Pat Elflein, it was Danny Isidora who got the call to replace Compton.
Without Compton, the Vikings offensive line was composed of:
Rashod Hill – Danny Isidora – Pat Elflein – Mike Remmers – Brian O’Neill
Isidora, 24, has one career start. Jones has 17. Jones has a Pro Football Focus grade of 53.7 in 188 snaps played this season. Isidora does not have enough snaps to qualify. In fact, he only played 24 snaps on the offensive line before today’s game.
The decision to play Jones may be as simple as the 26 year-old being seen strictly as a backup at center, but it was an interesting decision nonetheless. We’ll have more on the Compton injury as the news becomes available.
Xavier Rhodes
Vikings top cornerback Xavier Rhodes went down with what appeared to be a left ankle injury after his feet were tangled with Jets receiver Robby Anderson on a deep ball in the second half. Rhodes was not able to immediately put any weight on his leg and was carried off the field. He was seen limping around the sidelines late in the fourth quarter.
Anthony Barr
Linebacker Anthony Barr was also hurt as his leg came down awkwardly while attempting to plow through a blocking running back. He was able to walk off the field under his own power but news came out later that Barr suffered a hamstring injury.
We’ll bring you updated news on these injuries as soon as it becomes available.
