Bump & Run: The Final Grades

By Sam Neumann

Greetings, my friends. In this final episode of our inaugural season, I put a bow on the 2016 campaign by handing out grades to the different Vikings position groups. I also pay tribute to Captain Chelsey “Sully” Sullenberger and Chris Hansen of “To Catch a Predator.” All this and more in our postseason wrap-up.

I’d also like to thank those who tuned in this season. This was an experiment of sorts and a labor of love for me, but I had fun doing it every week and it was really cool to hear/read people’s reactions. Hope I made you smile at least a few times as we got through this weird year together.

Bump & Run will most likely return in 2017, and I wouldn’t be surprised if we check in now and then during the offseason, too. Expect VT TV to continue expanding into the new year.

Thanks again. As always, click the link above or watch on YouTube here.

    • Probably should've included the coaches, and you may be right on the RBs. Figured some might think it too low because people seem to love McKinnon.

I appreciate you watching as well. Thanks for coming along for the ride.

    • I think it's really difficult to grade the running backs due to the extremely subpar performance by the offensive line.

Of course, you could probably say that for grading every position group on offense...

  • You almost lost me when you started to grade the OL with a C, good save! Enjoyed your broadcasts this year and look forward to more, You're a funny dude Sam (Just don't start one of those lame 'Podcasts', ok?)

    • Some people have a face for radio and others, like Sam, have a face for the BIG SCREEN!

I have a face for... neither.

    • Thanks Fran! The o line bit was my favorite part. If any position ever deserved an F...

  • This was pretty good in spite of a few omissions. Very funny and entertaining.

When you get really old like me and Fran, you will always have this video to look back on and forever regret the time you graded the Vikings season while experimenting with the porn-stache look.

I once went 8 years without cutting my hair, didn't shave for 3. Looked like Cousin Itt from the Addams Family. My uncle used to call me the Wild Man From Borneo. I burned all of them photos. Sorry Sam, now you gotta own this look. It's on the interwebs.

      • Here's how it works Brett. To truly judge another person by their haircut, one must have personally experienced the good, the bad and the ugly. I did it all in one shot. Now as I totter off into antiquity, the noble assets of a full head of hair are fading into the proverbial sunset of life, leaving me with little else but bitterness and criticism towards another persons bouffant.

Live life, Brett. Have great hair!

    • Thanks Ole! It's true, this is my life now. I figure the only way to move forward is to continue growing the ol porn stache out. My wife is quite unhappy, but she can't stop me from being who I am.

  • QB B+
RB C-, below average 3.4 and 3.3 yards per rush even with a lousy OL
    TE B+
    WR B+
OL D, Boone and Berger got better as the year went on, Sirles' run-blocking was okay at times; anyone know Easton's PFF score?
DL B+, run defense shaky - we need a real back-up NT, Rick! - and Robison scored poorly over at PFF; anyone know why?
LB B-, Kendricks B+ to A-, wish Lamur or Cole had had more of an impact
DB A-, have to account for second GB game; Anthony Harris looked good the little I saw of him (PFF score?)
ST B, Walsh wasn't so bad to offset Patterson (returns and coverage), healthy Sherels and better Locke; writer at PFF praised Brothers' coverage
