With only two practices remaining, the Minnesota Vikings time in Mankato is already coming to a close. After the team’s practice today, the team will have a final practice first thing tomorrow morning at 8am (central time).
Like this morning, we will have live coverage of today and tomorrow’s events in Mankato. So follow along and keep up with the latest from Vikings camp…
Right now!

2:50pm – Wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson will be practicing today, however defensive tackle Sharrif Floyd (who sat out this morning’s walk-thru) will not be participating this afternoon. Surprisingly, cornerback Terence Newman will also not be participating in practice today due to an injury.
Cordarrelle Patterson (shoulder) is back in pads. Sharrif Floyd is not.

Terence Newman is not participating in the #Vikings afternoon practice. Has his right ankle wrapped.

3:05pm – Minnesota begins today’s practice with some special teams drills. Everyone on the roster is present today, just not everyone is necessarily participating in practice.
Individual drills and punt return work to start practice.

All players present at #Vikings practice. Newman, Robinson, Kendricks and Floyd are all not participating.
— Eric Oslund (@EDOslund) August 8, 2016
3:20pm – New offensive line coach Tony Sparano continues to be one of the Vikings most valuable additions to the team this offseason. Hard to imagine that Minnesota’s offensive line will not improve from last season.
Sparano really coaching up the OL with Zimmer looking on. In TE/QB work, David Morgan had a sweet one-handed catch.

3:30pm – Whenever the Vikings do drills that involve the wide receivers and defensive backs facing off it always makes for an entertaining watch and today is no different. Wide receiver Jarius Wright seems to have left the field with an apparent injury. We will keep an eye on his status for sure.
Johnson beats Rhodes on a quick slant and Thielen gets Munnerlyn on comeback. Hill with sweet pass on fade to Stoudermire on Roberson.

Jarius wright escorted to tent during practice with possible injury
— Chris Tomasson (@christomasson) August 8, 2016
Waynes added a sweet pass breakup on Michel and the drill is over.

3:45pm – Minnesota does not seem to be in any rush right now to put Patterson in harms way as he is doing very little in the team drills today.
Patterson participating in very few drills today seems like

3:50pm – Head coach Mike Zimmer has not been happy with his team’s play at all today. He was on their case this morning and it seems like it is more of the same this afternoon. Possibly a bit rusty after their day off yesterday?
Mike Zimmer had been mad all day just made his team do 10 push-ups this morning made them start a whole period over again in walkthrough
— Chris Tomasson (@christomasson) August 8, 2016
Zimmer just made the team do push-ups after a bad rep. He’s really been getting after them today.
— Sam Ekstrom (@SamEkstrom) August 8, 2016
4:00pm – Rookie Moritz Böhringer was listed toward the bottom in the wide receiver portion of the Vikings preseason depth chart that was released today. His performance in practice today is not going to help his current status heading into the season.
Mobo gets wide open on a streak and drops his third pass of the day. He’s had like six targets.
— Arif Hasan (@ArifHasanNFL) August 8, 2016
Stave tries a fade to MoBo and Böhringer extends and it hits him in the elbow. Couldn’t look it all the way in.
— Vikings Corner (@VikingsCorner) August 8, 2016
4:10pm – A bit of Minnesota related breaking news to mention as the the team has reportedly agreed with long snapper Kevin McDermott on a four-year contract extension.
Long snapper Kevin McDermott and #Vikings have agreed to a 4-year, $4 million extension, source said. Locking him up until 2020
— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) August 8, 2016
4:20pm – Now the fun part of the day has started as the Vikings are beginning to do some 11-on-11 work. Most of Minnesota’s exciting plays in camp have come in these types of scenarios.
Hunter with a would be sack on Teddy to start 11 on 11 drills.. Teddy ends up dumping it off to AP for no gain
— Luke Inman (@Luke_Spinman) August 8, 2016
11-on-11. Teddy pumps on Trattou and hits Diggs in the flat. Then, Rhodes gets tangled with Diggs on next play. No penalty called though.
— Vikings Corner (@VikingsCorner) August 8, 2016
4:30pm – The defensive backfield seems to be getting the best of the offense in today’s practice. Xavier Rhodes showing off his usual lockdown skills while rookie Mackensie Alexander has been performing rather well also.
Xavier Rhodes has been in lockdown mode today.
— Sam Ekstrom (@SamEkstrom) August 8, 2016
Mackensie Alexander gets a very good PD on underthrown Hill pass to Patterson, who aside from that looked alright today
— Arif Hasan (@ArifHasanNFL) August 8, 2016
4:35pm – Minnesota’s backup quarterback situation continues to be a train wreck during this training camp. Hill and Stave are throwing at everything and everyone that is not a Vikings receiver.
Shaun Hill punches the air as Kentrell Brothers picks off his pass down the seam to MyCole Pruitt.
— Andrew Krammer (@Andrew_Krammer) August 8, 2016
Stave throws deep to @christomasson near the stands. Boehringer watched the pass sail over his head when he got open corner route.

4:45pm – Minnesota closing out today’s practice with some work on their punt coverage. Take a closer look and see that a certain Vikings defensive end is lining up as one of the punt team’s outside gunners.
Waynes Sherels Hunter Cole Sendejo all on gunner with special teams
— Luke Inman (@Luke_Spinman) August 8, 2016
