After two years of spot duty, Woods made the most of his opportunities as a junior starting 10 games and collecting 37 tackles and one sack. As a senior in 2015, Woods compiled 41 tackles, seven for loss, and three sacks as he proved to be an immovable object in the middle of the Trojan’s defensive front.

Defensive tackle is not a draft need for the Minnesota Vikings as Shariff Floyd, Linval Joseph and Tom Johnson have all played at a high level under defensive line coach Andre Patterson. Patterson enters his third season as the Vikings defensive line coach and his returning unit looks poised to again be an area of strength along the front seven.
Staying healthy throughout an entire 16 game season is probably the biggest challenge in front of Patterson’s unit. Adding depth players and camp bodies to compete with Shamar Stephens, Ellis Kenrick and Isame Faciane might be addressed late in the draft or in free agency.
Woods is a likable burly big boy who has enough potential to develop into a solid contributor in certain run stoping situations in the NFL. Named USC’s defensive lineman of the year as a senior, Woods finished his career with 33 starts, eight sacks and 113 tackles.

Anyone else thinking of big Pat Williams? The things that stand out to me most Carl are hustle, works hard and coach-able. Not easy to move a 330 pounder if he can learn to keep his center of mass low. Sounds like a good project player to me.
Nose Tackle IS a draft need as we need someone to rotate with Linval Joseph who can actually stuff the run. Shamar Stephen may be able to do the job but with him on injured reserve we had no one who could effectively step in for Joseph. I'd be happy to see the Vikes use a third or fourth rounder on a run-stuffing NT.
A couple of one technique guys to keep an eye on in the mid rounds are Javon Hargrave and Hassan Ridgeway. But if you are sold on drafting a DT than the first round has great value with Andrew Billings, Kenny Clark and Jarren Reed all right around pick 23.
