LINKS OF THE WEEK: Feeling Minnesota

As the video above drives home, no fan base in the NFL knows what it means to endure heartbreak quite like the fine folks that will soon be filling the seats of U.S. Bank Stadium. With an early heartbreak already this year, followed by a stress-inducing trade, this season is already shaping up to be another memorable one for the purple faithful.

Before those seats are filled in the new stadium, however, we have an opener to play in Tennessee.

Now is that time of the week where we take a look around the web, we look to our friends for their best reads, and send you there to gobble it all up.

  1. I am not optimistic about Bradford as a Viking.
Just saw this from Drew Magary, I feel much the same way.
“It must be nice to be a former No. 1 overall QB and cruise through your career on that reputation alone. Sam Bradford hasn’t started a playoff game in his entire career, and yet coaches and GMs are still enamored with him because of his draft status, and because he looks the part (very tall), and because he’s a hard-working and congenial sort of fellow. “Oh, he’s such a nice guy, he’d NEVER throw an interception!” I can’t think of another average player who’s gotten as much slack. It’s baffling.

And now I gotta CHEER for him. Christ. I gotta convince myself that there’s still some deeply hidden reservoir on potential in that man that only Pat Shumur—Pat Shurmur!—can unlock. I gotta pretend this wasn’t a naked ploy to keep up appearances for a new stadium, with the price of a first rounder actually ASSISTING the team in selling Bradford to the legion of oblivious Jello salad moms that populate the state of Minnesota. And then I gotta get my hopes up the second Bradford does something mildly competent out there, only to have Odin come down from a cloud and throw a spear through his kneecap just when things seem to be improving.”

    Here’s to hoping I’m wrong.
    Go Vikes!

  2. I would say that your ‘glass is half empty’…but then again, I am a Vikings fan and feel your pain. Let’s HOPE that our o-line will keep Bradford safe and our defense carries the team…kinda hoping for a Baltimore Ravens/Bucaneers type-team of the past…remember Brad Johnson and Trent Dilfer? However, they weren’t even close to being on Bradford’s level and they didn’t have a running back like Adrian Peterson…ofcourse, we don’t have Ray Lewis or Derrick Brooks…sorry Vikings linebackers…

    Who knows?!!
