Duron Carter Is The “Worst. Teammate. Ever.”

By Adam Warwas

It’ll surprise few people that the son of Vikings Hall of Fame receiver Cris Carter has some talent. Duron Carter has had multiple NFL tryouts after a troubled college career, including with the Vikings at one point, but he has never been able to take his game to the world’s largest stage other than during a very brief stay with the Colts.

Instead, Duron Carter destroys opponents in the Canadian Football League as a member of the Montreal Alouettes.

The website 3 Down Nation recently recapped some of Carter’s moment in Montreal that don’t exactly reflect well on him, including a recent altercation with a teammate and a moment in 2014 where the team actually held a vote regarding their ability to play alongside the star playmaker.

Carter’s conduct is one of the reasons he didn’t last longer in the NFL after spending 2015 on the Colts practice roster. After word travelled south about Carter’s bumping incident with Redblacks head coach Rick Campbell earlier this season, an NFL source said:  “Doesn’t surprise me.”

CFL personnel men believe Carter could be a contributing receiver on lots of NFL teams. Heisman trophy winning quarterback, Troy Smith, who played with Carter for two seasons in Montreal, said, “He adds a different portion to the game that definitely needs to be seen on Sundays.”

The article ends with a quote from an unnamed former Alouette:

Considering the track record Carter is compiling north of the border, they likely avoided some awkward headlines when he chose to play in Indianapolis instead of Minneapolis. Many of us hoped that the son of one of the greatest receivers of all time could turn his life around, and play some great football, as a Minnesota Viking… a familiar story that would’ve been too perfect.

Instead, Carter appears content to pile up the stats north of the border, as well as taking pleasure in having his name attached to headlines for all of the wrong reasons.

  • The apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Cris Carter is not the nice person he tries to portray himself to be. His son evidently reflects that. No surprise.

  • He may not have liked his experience with Carter but my vote goes to IK Enemkpali - after all, its hard to top breaking your QBs jaw.

  • Spoiled. Petulant. Lazy.
He would have fit right in with the Love Boat era Vikings. It's a shame because he has NFL starter talent. Zimmer likes his players tough, smart and hardworking. So I guess there is little reason to believe Duron would ever get another chance to wear purple.

  • I think its a bunch of crap. The Colts proved over and over they are the biggest cry babies in the NFL. Carter was probally trying to help.
