Danielle’s Game Day Dish: Week 9

Written by Adam’s wife, Danielle

It was a scary Halloween for sure. Regrettably, the Vikings have lost another game.

The Vikings are now 5-2 but still in first place in their division. In 2015, the Vikings won both of the games they played against the Detroit Lions so I know if we all think positive, the Vikings will win and ensure their spot in first place.

I know that some people have a genuine distaste for hot dogs, but I am not one of those people. I love hot dogs and can eat them nearly every day. When I go to any type of football, basketball, or baseball game I always feel the need for 2 things: hot dogs and nachos, so it is no surprise that I needed to have hot dogs in some nature as a game day dish.

This week I decided to make the number one appetizer served at a party… pigs in a blanket. Growing up, whenever we had guests over I would always hover around waiting to see if appetizers were going to be put out and if so, as soon as they were served I would pounce on the platter to make sure I got a taste of the good stuff, pigs in a blanket included. Honestly, who am I kidding? I still do this.

These pigs in a blanket are a perfect game day dish. They include next to no ingredients meaning they are cost efficient and since they are so cheap, you can make a large amount of them to serve a huge crowd. The best thing is the flavors you get. I love the taste of a plump, juicy hot dog and the sharp flavor of the cheddar mixed with the hot dog is just heavenly. Everyone loves the light, flaky, buttery flavor of Pillsbury rolls so to encompass that with the cheddar and hot dogs is purely blissful.

I hope everyone appreciates the joys of these scrumptious pigs in a blanket. Let me know your thoughts in the comments below, especially if you try these out. Of course, don’t forget to find my husband, Adam Patrick, on twitter at (@Str8_Cash_Homey) for all of the Vikings information you need and sneak peeks of upcoming game day dishes.

XOXO
