WEEK FOUR OPEN THREAD: Vikings Hike Towards Mile High

Vikings Travel to Denver

The Minnesota Vikings are back on the road after an impressive victory last week at home against the San Diego Chargers. This weekend, the Vikings travel to Mile High Stadium to take on Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos. Last week’s match-up featured another impressive performance from Adrian Peterson but the reborn running back, who seems to be getting back into his groove, will have his hands full against a Denver defense that is arguably the best in the league.

Brent LaBathe previewed the Vikings uphill battle on offense this week. It’s likely the Broncos will sell out to bottle up Adrian Peterson, so Teddy Bridgewater, who struggled against the Chargers, will need to find success through the air. That’s much easier said than done considering the Broncos not only feature one of the best front sevens in the league but also one of the best secondaries.

On defense, the key to winning this game will be the Vikings getting after senior quarterback Peyton Manning. Minnesota has had no problem with this the past few weeks. Both Phillip Rivers and Matthew Stafford left their games against this strong defensive unit feeling abused. Much like the past two matches, Minnesota is once again facing a team with major offensive line problems. Furthermore, Denver has not been able to run the ball well this year. If the Vikings secondary can limit the Broncos after the catch and limit Manning’s time in the pocket, the Vikings should be able to hang against this undefeated squad.

Before giving my prediction, I asked the staff here at Vikings Territory to give their bold predictions for the game. You’ll find those and my thoughts on the final score after the break.
