Poll Of The Week: How Will Vikes Fare In The NFC North?

By Adam Warwas

As Arif pointed out today, the powerhouse analytics website Pro Football Focus released depth charts for NFL teams that used colors and their analysis to show where the talent was for each team.  They base their rankings off of their own numbers, and talent will always be something up for debate, but the Vikings actually fared pretty well.

If you look at their depth chart for the Vikings and compare them to the other NFC North teams (all the depth charts can be found here) you will see that the Vikings have more starters listed as being above the “average” category than any other team in the North.  I hate ever bragging about being some sort of offseason champion, but it is at least nice to see that someone is noticing we have a talented roster, and that evidence could lead to a quick turnaround.

How quick?  Well, you tell me.  Use our Poll of the Week to let me know just where you think the Vikings currently sit within their own division at the moment.

  • I clicked all those teams. What kind of fan wouldn't? And don't give me the old "realistic fan" crap...

  • I believe we are the best in the division. It has always come down to coaching IMO. Now that we have a coach that will spark a fire I feel that we dictate our success. If the team plays as cohesive units ( OFF, SPEC. and DEF) We can at the very least make a late push for playoffs with stable QB play.

  • Hard to claim MN is a better team without sounding like a homer, but the division was up for grabs at the end of the year last year. IF we could've pulled-out a couple of those that slipped away and not tied GB we could have been in the mix a little more. All with an OFF that actually put up some decent points, for being pretty much a clusterpuck. Slight chance we can be the KC of this year. SKOL!!

  • We have talent on both sides of the ball, but brand new systems and a rookie QB. I love teddy but he probably won't be ready to go week 1. This maybe a year that we under achieve record wise, but I think it will serve us well next year.

I think we may flirt with the playoffs, but its hard to say that we are going to sweep the north this year. I guess its possible I just don't think it likely. Not this year anyway. This year is all about learning systems and getting Teddy experience. 8-8 to 9-7.

    Operation 2018 Superbowl on track.

  • A lot of homers here. I hope we go 16-0 and win the superbowl but that's not gonna happen. I'd be happy with 3rd in the division but again I think we'll finish last in the best division in the NFL (hear that NFC West, were better!)

  • I think the Vikings offense will be crazy good this season.
Jennings, Paterson, AP, Rudolph, Simpson, Wright, McKinnon... the cupboards are stacked with playmakers. Even Rodney Smith and Lestar Jean can beat teams deep for big plays.

If Bridgewater and Norv Turner are the difference makers I think they are... this will be a great season.

Even if you're not a Vikings' homer, you have to admit this offense should/could be one of the best in the NFL.

  • 7-9 to 9-7 are realistic expectations for a new coaching staff and a team adjusting to philosophical changes on both sides of the ball. The QB position will be much improved (later into the season) and defense will definately make strides with Zimmer's scheme... I just want to point out that our schedule is HORRENDOUS this year for a team that finished 4th place last year. If we finished 2nd place in the division, I would be happily surprised. If we win 10 or more games, Zimmer will be up for coach of the year.
