Time To Step Up For Oklahoma

By Adam Warwas

Once again we are left feeling like any football related topic being posted in this space would be utterly meaningless and inappropriate.  Mother nature showed her ugliest side today in Oklahoma, with tornadoes sweeping across the land and leaving a wake of tragedy behind, and we want to use our little corner of the internet to stand beside those in need.

So, while we will surely hear stories in the near future of our Vikings with Oklahoma ties making grand gestures of generosity to help with the recovery, I now ask you to at least make a small contribution.  If you can, please consider donating to the Red Cross to help those that are injured, faced with rebuilding their homes, or lost loved ones today.

  • Tornado tore through my town. Me and Mr.LeCount live about a mile and 1/2 apart, it went right between us....him and his family are fine, as is mine. All accounted for. Debris everywhere. It hit closer to his house, but both our houses are ok. Others not so fortunate. Prayers and any help is needed. No power, no water. People have lost lives and family and homes just mere blocks away...

    • Holy crap Cart. That's a damn close call. I'm glad to hear you are OK. My condolences to those who aren't.

    • Wow, CC & LeCount, I didn't realize you guys were so close. I am glad to hear you two are okay, and like the other guys have said, we are thinking about everyone impacted. Keep us updated, pal.

    • Glad to hear everyone is okay. Our family's thought are with everyone who has been affected. Wife and I donated $200 to the Red Cross today. I know it's not a fortune but I am sure it will help somebody.

      • Seeing those schools ripped apart really hit home with us along with the unfortunate loss of life. I have a son in elementary school and a daughter in Jr, High and I live in Texas. Kept thinking, Damn! That could happen to our kids at school!

        • It's the unimaginable Norse. Losing a child, or grandchild, would be the worst. Thanks for the donation.

    • Glad you guys and your families are ok CC. I had a feeling you and Count had to be pretty close but never imagined it was that close. Best wishes to you and your families and your friends and neighbors as well. God bless

  • Thank you guys for thoughts and prayers. My family is one of the fortunate ones...it's just crazy. Just luck I guess...I don't know. We are no more deserving than others. There are a lot of good people here and from everywhere. I wish the lookie loos would go away, if you ain't helping, go away! Just clogging things up.
I now have power and water, even went to work today. I can get back to a somewhat normal life. Just 1/3 of a mile away, it will take them a long while.
LeCount was able to get to his house today, get some things. But no elec, or water. His house is fine tho...3 blocks north of him houses are half gone...5 blocks and they are completely leveled.
