Well, it took some time, but it appears that Rick Spielman got his man.
According to ESPN, the Vikings have reached an agreement with the former Packers receiver, who will provide the Vikings with a legitimate weapon for Christian Ponder’s second season as the full time starter.
Jennings will turn 30 in September and was reportedly looking for a deal north of $10 million. Jennings has been plagued by injuries, and saw an increase in competition for snaps in Green Bay, over the last two seasons but was one of the NFL’s premier receivers from 2008 to 2010.
The deal is reported to be over five years, which means Jennings will be 35 years old when it expires, and financial terms are currently unknown. A press conference is scheduled for 7:15 tonight.

Agree Skol....I'm still pissed.
I understand the realease, however it sucks that my favorite viking, since I started watching the vikings has been realeased.
After last offseason I started to like Speilman... if he paid 1 penny over the Welker deal I no longer do. Amendola, Welker, Swope, and Jarius Wright would have been as good if not better in the slot than Jennings will be and they'd all be a helluva lot cheaper.

It's a 5 year deal, so I'm guessing it's going to look worse than it is. We will need to wait for a yearly breakdown on this because he probably won't finish out this contract. The first two or three years will be the real value of the deal.

Yup, and there it is, a reported max value of $47 some million. The guarantee is said to be $18 million so that's the # to focus on. I'ld bet there is some back-end funny money on this. Press conference is supposed to be on NFLN if anyone is wondering.
I'm stoked to get a legit WR but I hope it doesn't mean if a WR falls to us in the draft, we don't pick him because we already have Jennings. That and the injury issues with Jennings are my only concern.
It will be interesting to see what figures are released, but even then you never really know the full extent of these contracts for a while. Glad we got some outside help though. We couldn't afford to go into the season with a rookie WR and Simpson outside. Hopefully either Patterson or Allen falls to them in the first round and then go BPA (maybe DT or MLB) with the other pick. Jennings, Patterson/Allen, Wright, Simpson doesn't actually look too bad, especially with AD in the backfield!
I still think that vikings will draft a WR in the first round regardless of this, unless a lot of them already have been taken.
But this also give us more freedom when drafting as now WR isn't guaranteed to be on of the first picks.
