One of the most obvious targets that Vikings speculation swirled about as free agency neared was Packer wide out Greg Jennings.
Well, now we are going to find out whether or not the team and the player think they are a match as Jennings is officially visiting the Vikings in Minnesota. 1500 ESPN reports that Jennings, 29 years old, will have dinner with officials on Thursday night and then visit the team facilities on Friday, but that no deal is imminent.
As we have seen, however, things can move very fast during free agency.
The star Packer has had a couple of down years, mostly due to injury, but he would instantly become the most legitimate weapon in the Vikings passing game after Percy Harvin was dealt to the Seattle Seahawks.

I think he either sign with us for about 10 mill per year, or goes back to green bay for the same amount.
He is not worth $10 mill a year.
...and Green Bay offered him that much during the season, there is no report on what they are offering him now. $7-$8 would put him above the Welker/Amendola deals and I wouldn't go more than that. The only contract I feel they haven't overspent on so far is Henderson's.
I agree wholeheartedly we overspent on Felton (2.5-3mil for a FULLBACK?) and Simpson (I was legitimately expecting the bare minimum. He should be making less than he did last year), but Loadholt was a fair price.

interesting, they couldn't dangle a top shelf QB, so they bring in jared allen to be the star power at dinner. wine and dine a guy who's used to playing outdoors, as we will be soon, show him how bad we want him, and mention our new better back-up QB. this thing is lining up to be a big push (for us, anyway) to get him, me thinks
yeah, maybe it'd hafta be a little more than $6 mil, and there's some added value in being able to spoil the cheez, but i just hate taking these chances on WRs for a lot of dough. oh well, it's also a risk taking a high pick WR in the draft, and we are so needy at the position
he's still in mn? they don't want him to leave unsigned. they want someone for ponder to throw to. jennings removes any excuses for ponder to fail

Norseman is right. He will not go back to Green Bay for the same amount, if the Packers had offered 10 mil would've never traveled to Minnesota. I'd be surprised if we signed him for anything more than 9.
I just threw up a little bit in my mouth... I don't want Jennings here he doesnt fit the system, is injury prone, and too old/expensive and hes a GD PACKER. If he comes for UNDER 6 a year, great if hes 6 or more ship his ass back to GB.
I wouldn't mind signing Jennings as long as they don't overpay. We need help bad at WR if we are going to be competitive this year. I'm hoping they draft the best player available with one of the first round picks (either DT or MLB if available) and trade back into the 2nd round with the other 1st rounder and draft two WRs like a Justin Hunter and Robert Woods and give them a year or two to develop and learn from Jennings.
I'm also surprised, given the abundance of young CB talent available in free agency they didn't go after someone like a Talib, Grimes, Smith or DRC. I know they each have their own problems, but given the WRs in our division and how injury prone Cook has been, it wouldn't be the worst move to pick up at least one! They have all been reasonably priced too. cheaper than what Winfield would have cost!
