Grade Our Two Signings

By Adam Warwas

Earlier this week, over 80% of you assigned either an “A” or a “B” grade to the Percy Harvin trade, but now we want to know what you think of the latest two signings:

    • No.. Cassel is the right guy.
Fitz has never won more than 6 games in a season.
Cassel has won 10 games twice.
Matt has a higher QB rate than Ryan.
His yards per attempt and yards per completion is higher
      His int % is better
Cassel is even 2-3 inches taller.

No question, Cassel is the right guy?

      • I think matt cassel thrives better in our system, short completed passes with a great RB to take preassure of him (if he should play, when / if ponder get injuried.)

  • I think Jennings is the right guy too.

Jennings, Simpson, Wright and a draft pick..
C Patterson or Justin Hunter or Keenan Allen or D Hopkins or Robert Woods or Qunton Patton or D Rogers or T Williams. Ya baby, we got options.

Now we can draft 2-3 studs on D and we are in the hunt for a division crown.

    • I still think they should consider drafting 2 WR in the draft within the first 3 rounds.. Consider, not neccensarely do it.
I still don't know how things are with G. Childs but we might not see anything to him this year.

  • B for jennings, no A because of the high ticket

A for cassel. a real QB instead of joe, and he could even take over the starter role someday

going back, i'd now give the harvin deal a B grade. lost a great player, but got two good picks

the positive is that we have traded an unhappy harvin, who we had to let go, for jennings, paid less, and we've added two good picks

the middle is that we've used up our FA cap money, which is a good thing if he produces, because unspent cap space doesn't help get us a title and it's not our (the fan's) money; bad thing if he's lackluster or hurt because then we're stuck with his contract and no production

the negative is that we paid way more for jennings than he's probably worth (i hope very much to eat those words), and got a more one-dimensional player than harvin was. we could end up drafting a WR who is better than jennings for much less money

we've taken our shots and are now done, for the most part, in FA, and we are set, for known quantities, for this upcoming season. lots of unknowns to come via the draft. we are better off now than we were, considering that harvin wanted out anyway. pretty sure we are spending more on one WR per year than we are on two QBs, and that's not right. time to fish or cut bait for ponder

    • well atleast we didn't go giving him a +10 mill per year contract. Since he is going to play in the cold of minnesota outdoors in College stadium I actually think it's a pretty good deal.
Also considering packers at some point offered him 10 mill per year.

  • both talked about how they liked the family atmosphere. what a major bs schmooze-fest that goes on, until you're called in and cut cold, right, 'toine?
