Cancel Your Sunday Ticket Subscription While You Can!

By Adam Warwas

The Minnesota Vikings lost to the Cleveland Browns… and their third string quarterback… after they traded away Trent Richardson.  And the loss came AT HOME.  If you want to save yourself some money, see if DirecTV will let you cancel your Sunday Ticket subscription this week and find something different to do on Sunday’s.

Speaking of giving up, I think there is some very real traction this week for those that really feel Leslie Frazier and his staff should be dismissed.  There may need to be a total cleaning of the house to see a real change to how things are run in Minnesota, but Frazier’s staff is certainly not getting things done.

We’ll talk more about the game in greater detail soon, but for now I recommend getting that DirecTV rep on the phone and using some strong mouth wash.  This bad taste isn’t going away for awhile.

  • Oh geez, I don't know...fire Frazier? Seems kind of harsh. I mean the guy has been able to see to it that we get to pick pretty high in the draft every year, doesn't he? Isn't that worth something?

  • That's the best thing for everyone. The fans, the players, the organization!
Go out and get Bill Cowher, or John Gruden. Somebody who will turn this thing around.
Another thing, GET RID OF PONDER!!!

  • Three losses by a grand total of 15 points, and we're gonna fire coaches? Wow, a new definition of the term "knee-jerk" has emerged. Guess that means the Redskins and Giants will be cleaning house, too, huh?

This was a bad and frustrating loss, no question about it. Three games, however, is not the basis for firing coaches... and Matt Cassell is not the answer the way this offensive line is blocking. Our only hope is Ponder's mobility. Currently averaging 27 points a game on offense, doesn't seem like the first place to look for why we are losing.

  • Defense was horrible Coach...special teams was horrible. Offense was ok, Ponder did ok, whatever joker is calling these plays on O was horrible. In the last seven or 8 1st down calls AD was given the ball once...explain that to me. Are you kidding me? That's not smart football. I don't give up easily, but somebody needs right this ship...
Coach I respect your opinion, but to be 0-3 with this talent is poor coaching. How can a guy be left all alone on a FG attempt and no coach or player sees it? Call a time out!
The thing that gets me is the offensive play calling...you wanna run a reverse on 1st and ten with 4 minutes left and a 3 point lead. WHEN YOU HAVE AD?!? It doesn't make sense.

    • Can't argue that there were some very disappointing coaching moments in that game today, cart. The fake FG was totally inexcusable, and the time-out after the Brown time-out sure would have been nice to have in the last minute of the game. I also question the defensive call on the final Brown TD, although I expect a better effort than that from Harrison Smith.

I really don't think our offensive issues were related to play calling today, it was execution up front. I got no issue with play action to AD on first down, makes sense really. The O-line got handled today, cart, and when that happens, play calling is no picnic, believe me. The players still have to run and block, and I just believe there is far too much focus on play calling. When plays work, we like the call. When they don't, we question it. The players know... its not the play call so much as the execution. Remember, the Browns defense has been respectable in all their games, so we weren't going to put up much more than what we did. If I had told you before the game that the offense would score 27, I think you would have said we would win.

I don't like us being 0-3 either. The Giant and Redskins fans don't like it either, and neither will the fans in Pittsburgh unless they rally tonight. Point is, we were more than in those three games. When you're one play from winning 2 of those games, all you can do is keep workin'.

      • The play calling on the last few drives was like a broken record...Pass, incomplete...Run for 2-3 yards...3rd & long. Credit Ponder for making a couple plays with his feet on the one drive that got us 3 points. There is nothing wrong with giving the ball to your best player on first down! That's smart football...right? It's giving your team the best chance at winning.
Seems like he wants to trick the D, screw that. I agree that a play action to AD is good...but not on every 1st down. Smart thing to do is give him the ball, as much as possible...he is the best player on the offense. Play calling 101. Fail.

        • He got predicable, and stuck on that pattern, I do agree, cart. But we also say that if the defense is stopping the run, we should be able to throw. Like I said, my greater disappointment is with the line play, but that is just one man's opinion.

  • Turnovers, penalties, blown coverages/assignments, less than avg o-line play, penalties for challenging unchallengable plays, etc...
I got two word for you coach: SHUT 'ER DOWN!

"IN" those games? What's sad is that DET was even in that game. This staff has NEVER shown the ability to adjust from their plan mid-game, and are clueless as to what to do if forced to do so, Maybe what could save the coaching staff's jobs is that fabulous red zone offense we have. AHEM, blaaaaup! I just threw-up.

  • I have been a ponder supporter from the beginning, mostly because I desperately want the Vikings to finally have a franchise qb for more than a year, but for people saying ponder isn't the only problem, that may be true, but he's never not part of the problem either. I like Leslie and love spielman, and think Leslie is a good enough coach to win us some games, however his inability to see flaws of the people close to him are gonna cost him his job. Musgrave has got to go. They just blitz everyone on every down and he has no answer. Ap can't get a carry because teams realize that if you give ponder all the freedom in the world he still can't capitalize. Yes our defense has given up a lot but they've also taken the ball away a lot and scored themselves. So cassel might not be any better, but at least I don't have to watch the same ineptness as ponder. I've seen it for three seasons and it's gotten weary on me.
